Advancing Associations
The dynamics and tensions surrounding nonprofit membership associations call for authentic voices from that sphere. Our founder, Christine H. Shaefer, served in various staff roles in such organizations for two decades, including ten years as an Executive Vice President, at that time holding the CAE* designation and a proud IOM*. Additionally, she focused her doctoral work on the complexities of associations, culminating in a dissertation examining the sharing of full range leadership behaviors by boards of directors.
We proudly bring our analytical rigor and creative innovation to this space. Our initiatives feature active involvement for all, whether volunteer leaders, paid staff, or both.
We know the challenges and opportunities that exist in the tensions inherent in associations, and we want to put this deep understanding of association dynamics to work for you, developing the people who make your purpose possible.
As we do for all organizations, we will collaborate with you to develop tailored offerings that meet you and your association where you are to propel you where you want to go. Specifically for associations, we also offer governance training/ board orientations, board and committee development, and impact planning (more commonly called strategic planning, but our approach goes beyond that, designed to maximize associations’ abilities to advance their missions and create significant impact in their areas of concern).
