Dialogue Meets Design

Live Both And, LLC officially formed in early 2025, merging nearly 60 years of combined experience working across sectors and around the globe. LBA Principals Christine H. Shaefer, Ph.D. and Enrique Martínez-González blended their individual expertise to create a firm with a distinctive approach, working collaboratively with clients and customizing impactful experiences that catalyze leader and organizational capacity.

Christine H. Shaefer, PhD

Christine’s career spans sectors, from early days in for-profit manufacturing and entertainment companies to nearly two decades in the nonprofit world, followed by a decade in the federal government.

Her education includes a BA in English/Communications from Pace University, a MA in Theatre & Drama from University of WI-Madison, a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Marian University, a variety of certifications, and the designations of Institute for Organization Management (IOM) from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives.

In addition to direct work for membership associations, including ten years as an executive vice president, Christine served as a consultant with other associations and nonprofits, focusing on governance, leadership, and strategy. This gives Live Both And distinct strength in advancing associations.

In the public sector, Christine served the U.S. Office of Personnel Management at the Federal Executive Institute as lead faculty member for U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) programs. In this role, she worked with global leaders on five continents, assessing their needs, creating customized curricula, facilitating with high engagement, and coaching with compassion.

Christine sees the world through a strengths-based lens and believes communication, connection, and creative thinking are skills to be embraced and enhanced now more than ever. She urges individuals and organizations to employ both-and thinking to meet the challenges of today’s complex world.
